The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease
(CBCD), recently received the results of a
survey that collected the public's questions on the herpes virus.
One of the questions collected was: "How can
you tell the difference between a herpes outbreak and something else?"
Many times, when people
go to the doctor, they actually have symptoms that are associated with an
initial herpes outbreak,
such as headaches, rashes, backaches etc. However, these symptoms are usually
not connected with herpes. One can have one or more of these symptoms, and not
have herpes at all.
Other times people will go to the
doctor, or to the emergency room full of worry over such things as a skin
infection, hair bump or even poison ivy, and thinking they've got genital
When one has a presentation of painful
blisters, or feels worse than usual right after having a new sexual
partner ... then this person should consider that the symptoms
are associated with genital herpes.
The CDC says, "People get herpes by having
sex with someone who has the disease. "Having sex" means anal, vaginal, or
oral sex. HSV-1 and HSV-2 can be found in and released from the sores that the
viruses cause. The viruses can also be released from skin that does not appear
to have a sore. Generally, a person can only get HSV-2 infection during sexual
contact with someone who has a genital HSV-2 infection. Transmission can occur
from an infected partner who does not have a visible sore and may not know
that he or she is infected.
HSV-1 can cause sores in the genital area
and infections of the mouth and lips, so-called "fever blisters." HSV-1
infection of the genitals is caused by mouth to genital or genital to genital
contact with a person who has HSV-1 infection."
The CBCD would like to make clear that
until a herpes vaccine is made available to the public, there remains no cure
for any type of herpes infection. This includes both oral as well as genital
After an initial period of activity where
there can be up to 5 major outbreaks in a year, Herpes establishes what
scientists call a latent infection. When a virus is latent, it acts as if it
is dormant. The moment the immune system is weakened, however,
the Herpes virus can "wake up" and become active again.
The best defense against a latent herpes
infection is a healthy immune system.
That's why the CBCD would like to point out
a Herpes remedy
that boosts the immune system against the latent HSV virus.
"The key to your health is to reduce the
level of the latent viruses in your body to harmless levels." - Dr.
